The Southern and Northern Alberta Chapters of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) are seeking an energetic individual to join their team as Fund Development Coordinator for the province. This unique position will work half time for each chapter in either Calgary or Edmonton.

CPAWS Southern and Northern Alberta are dynamic, independent chapters of the national charity, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS). The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society is Canada’s trusted voice for wilderness. CPAWS is the country’s only national charity dedicated solely to the protection of public lands and waters, and to ensuring that our parks are managed in ways that prioritize conservation. In Alberta, the chapters work to protect, connect and expand parks and wilderness areas across Alberta.
Position Summary
The Fund Development Coordinator is a new role for the Alberta chapters and the successful candidate will leverage their experience and expertise to build a robust fund development program supporting both chapters. This individual will be responsible for implementing and growing the fund development program and will work closely with both Executive Directors, the teams in both southern and northern Alberta, as well as liaise with the development staff at the National Office.
Highlights of Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Lead the execution of the Fund Development Plan with the support of the Executive Directors and CPAWS teams.
- Donor Engagement: Develop strategies for donors and prospects and identify/pursue new sources of funding
- Integrated Fund Development Program: Manage and implement an integrated fund development program which may include annual giving, major gifts, sponsorship, legacy giving and corporate gifts.
- Evaluation and metrics: Ensure program is on target to meet metrics and/or highlight areas of concern to discuss with leaderships.
- Donor Records: Work with National office staff to maintain detailed donor records and track prospect management in Raiser’s Edge
- Donor Recognition and Stewardship: Ensure all donors to CPAWS are recognized and thanked in accordance with the donor recognition and stewardship plan.
- Fund Development Communications: Work with communications staff to create fund development materials and coordinate donor engagement events.
- Grant Support: Assist program staff with grant writing, identification and review of applications.

Qualifications:
- Relevant post secondary education, or a combination of relevant training, education and experience
- A desire to implement and grow a robust fund development program with opportunities for personal and professional growth
- Strong communication skills and an aptitude for building relationships both internally and externally.
- Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously, take initiative and make decisions, in consultation with other team members from two collaborative chapter teams.
- Commitment to implementation of CPAWS’ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion values and strategies in all work.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge is considered an asset
Working Conditions and Requirements
- Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
- Possibility to work both in the office and at home
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required
- Access to personal vehicle and valid driver’s license with ability to travel between Calgary and Edmonton, as well as throughout Alberta.
- Preferably the successful candidate would live in or be willing to relocate to either Calgary or Edmonton or area; however other locations in Alberta would be considered.
Salary Range: $50,000 – 60,000 dependent on qualifications and experience
