Job Summary
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Fund Development Manager, the Fund Development Consultant is responsible for developing a comprehensive fund
development strategy for Miskanawah, with a focus on expanding Miskanawah’s Land-based healing initiative to be reflective of post-pandemic needs for Indigenous
communities in Calgary

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive fund development strategy that will support the following organizational objectives:
    o Miskanawah to secure a permanent site for Land-based programs and offerings
    o Provide recommendations on people and resources required to facilitate
    a fundraising campaign for Miskanawah’s Land-based healing location
    o Support sustainability planning for Miskanawah’s Land stewardship and organizational growth
    o Provide recommendations focused on resource development and sustainability for future fundraising activities, in relation to Land-based
    healing and all other organizational activities and offerings
    o Involve Miskanawah Elders and community stakeholders in discussions centered on operationalizing Miskanawah’s vision for the Land
    o Draw on stakeholder engagement with community partners, donors and sponsors to support collective action and impact

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Specialized learning and experience in the areas of Fundraising, Fund Development and Donor Management
  • Grant writing considered an asset
  • Professional and persuasive communication skills in oral, written, and web-based formats
  • Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Eagerness to work from an Indigenous perspective, and integrate Indigenous parallels into planning and strategy development
  • Works cooperatively and effectively with others to reach a common goal
  • Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Child Intervention Check
