Bethany is one of the largest not-for-profit providers of continuing care, supportive living and affordable independent housing for seniors and adults with disabilities in Alberta. We are seeking a confident, experienced, and highly skilled leader to develop and execute an ambitious growth plan for Bethany Care Foundation in support of Bethany Care Society’s strategic priorities.  You will contribute charitable sector expertise, proven capital campaign leadership and best practice fund development skills to Bethany’s philanthropic revenue generation program.

Building and executing a robust growth plan to support the quality, value and innovation of Bethany Care Society’s programs and services, while navigating a landscape for senior’s care and philanthropy that has been drastically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, has never been more important. Building on a reputation established over more than 75 years of service and care, our strategic vision is to lead in the transformation of Albertans aging well.

Seniors’ care is a complex, important and rewarding sector. In this role, you will work closely with our executive leadership team, key stakeholders, employees, and volunteers to engage community philanthropists and donors as vital partners in advancing Bethany’s vision.

As a seasoned, engaging, and well-connected charitable sector leader, you will grow the capacity of the organization and Foundation team to successfully execute major fundraising initiatives in support of Bethany’s strategic priorities in Calgary and across Central Alberta.

In this role, you will:

Provide strategic counsel and support to the Foundation and Society boards, executive team and other Bethany employees on matters relating to philanthropic initiatives and charitable sector trends.

Engage and support Board and other volunteer leaders to be successful in their mandates related to philanthropic and community support of Bethany.

Identify, solicit, and steward a personal pipeline of high potential prospects capable of six- and seven-figure gifts, engaging senior community volunteers, executive team members and other Bethany leaders in building lasting donor relationships.

Build a philanthropic culture across the organization through inspiring leadership, education and engagement of Bethany employees and volunteers in donor development and stewardship activities.

Lead, motivate, and manage the Foundation team including hiring, onboarding, training and professional development, performance planning and evaluation.

Foster positive and mutually beneficial relationships between the Foundation and Society at volunteer and employee levels.

What You Bring:

Related degree and/or professional designation (CFRE) preferred

10+ years comprehensive, growth-oriented fund development program leadership in a medium to large scale not-for-profit setting

Proven capital campaign experience including leadership on all aspects of campaign readiness, planning and execution of campaigns of $25M or more. Demonstrated results in personally soliciting and securing six and seven figure gifts.

Direct supervision experience and development of teams to high performance results
