The Opportunity
ECF’s Philanthropy & Donor Engagement is a lean team with a mandate to grow. Reporting to the Manager, Philanthropy, the successful candidate will be a skilled speaker, adept at research, cultivation and stewardship, be able to successfully convey their message(s) in person, on the phone, in writing and in larger group settings. Essential is the ability to represent and convey the culture of ECF; the grace and integrity that has evolved over years of quality relationship building. Technical expertise in Salesforce is a significant asset. Self-direction, leadership and team collaboration are all critical for success in this role. Core areas of accountability for this position include new and ongoing major and legacy gifts and funds. Continued pursuit of professional development and technical competency will be expected in this role.

Location
This position is based at Hilltop House in downtown Edmonton. Free parking is available.

The Ideal Candidate
Successful gift planning professionals come from many backgrounds, including law, trust administration, estate or financial planning, wealth management or other client/donor services.

To be considered, we are seeking candidates who possess the following:

  • 5+ years of related experience and a related post secondary degree; successful gift planning professionals come from many backgrounds, including law, trust administration, estate or financial planning, wealth management or other client/donor services.
    Equivalences will be considered.
  • Related professional designation (CFRE, LLB, CPA, other)
  • Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting and closing major and legacy gifts or similar types of opportunities
  • Technical competency in gift planning, fund development and the related tax and legal elements
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, presentation and listening skills
  • Initiative and the ability to recognize, create and act on opportunities as an advocate for ECF
  • Sound judgment and strategic decision making abilities
  • Proficiency and comfort with the use of computer systems and other technology
  • Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills, including the ability to work to tight deadlines and deal with a high degree of complexity
  • A desire to work with a creative and collaborative team committed to quality, values and leadership
  • Excellent current technical knowledge of charitable gifting options and opportunities and/or estate/trust principles
  • A customer orientation including the ability to understand wants and needs and act accordingly, growing a professional business practice

Salary: $75,000 – $90,000 per year

Schedule: Typical workweek is Monday to Friday with occasional weekends and evenings
