Communities for Life is seeking an experienced fundraising and development professional to help us strengthen and expand the financial foundation for our growing humanitarian and community-development work.
Communities for Life has developed a practical model designed to help individuals and families move from poverty toward meaningful self-sustainability through education, vocational training, food security, health, housing and community development. Building on many years of experience in Peru, we are preparing for the next stage of growth, including the development of additional Life Resource Centre and an expanded range of programs.
We are looking for a Senior Development Advisor who can work closely with the President and leadership of the organization to develop a professional, sustainable, long-term fundraising strategy. The successful individual will help us assess our existing donor relationships and networks, identify new opportunities, develop appropriate fundraising materials and approaches, cultivate relationships with individuals, foundations and other potential funding partners, and help establish the structure and practices required for long-term resource development.
This is not simply a short-term fundraising assignment. We are particularly interested in an experienced professional who can bring strategic guidance, established fundraising knowledge and practical experience to a growing charitable organization. The ability to work personally with prospective donors and to help our leadership make effective use of its existing relationships and contacts will be important.
The position is initially envisioned as a six-month engagement of approximately 16 hours per week, based in Calgary with flexibility for a hybrid working arrangement. There is potential for the relationship to continue as the organization’s development program grows.
Compensation will be negotiated based upon experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of work and will be structured as a fixed retainer or part-time professional engagement rather than commission-based fundraising.
