PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Director of Philanthropy & Community Engagement is a senior level leader whose primary purpose is to lead secure and steward Radiance Family Society’s funding relationships. This portfolio contributes significantly to the overall annual revenue while engaging with donors and volunteers in a meaningful way. Responsible for guiding and motivating the team members to achieve revenue goals, the Director will set fundraising strategies for major gift portfolios, partnerships, sponsorships, and annual giving, while also working with the Executive Director (ED), Board, and key leadership to launch and achieve revenue results and philanthropic success.
WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
- Work closely with the Executive Director (ED) and other internal stakeholders to build and maintain positive and productive relationships with Radiance’s key partners in government and other funding agencies.
- Work in collaboration with the ED, Board, and other internal stakeholders to lead the development and implementation of annual operating, capital, and multi-year fundraising plans in support of Radiance’s vision, mission, and goals.
- Coordinate all aspects of a comprehensive fundraising program including major gifts, grant applications, fundraising events (internal and third party), direct mail, online giving, planned giving, and donor stewardship.
- Drive internal process to assess and develop strong funder-ready projects and institutional cases for support for approval (Campaign and Annual as applicable).
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities in resource development, integrating innovative approaches into the organization’s strategies, while keeping the ED and the Board apprised.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward an assigned portfolio of donor prospects, including individuals, corporations, foundations, community groups, and granting organizations/agencies.
- Lead the development of high-quality support materials, proposals, grant applications, presentations, and other communication materials for presentation to donors, prospects, and community partners.
- Ensure high-quality information management and documented administrative processes are in place to support the fundraising program.
- Monitor annual plan performance for achievement of revenue targets.
- Analyze results and make recommendations for program enhancements and growth.
- Ensure consistent and compelling brand positioning to advance Radiance’s reputation and profile in the community.
- Monitor external environment including regulatory landscape, political and economic outlook, sector and industry trends, for strategic adjustments and engage organizational leadership appropriately.
- Lead Communications team in the development, implementation, and measurement of internal and external communication and brand strategies.
- Lead members of your team by providing guidance and support, focusing on a culture of collaboration, teamwork, respect, and excellence.
- Provide integral leadership by showcasing care, collaboration, innovation, empathy, and courage for employees and instilling those values throughout the organization.
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- University degree in a relevant discipline such as business, not-for-profit management, public relations, communications, or marketing.
- 5-7 years’ experience in resource development, project management or related field, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.
- 5-7 years’ experience in a leadership position with a team of direct reports.
- Proven experience developing, implementing and/ or operation of a successful annual and/or capital campaigns in the $1-3 million+ range.
- Demonstrated ability to make compelling and successful philanthropic asks ranging from $25,000 – $500,000+.
- CFRE or equivalent certification preferred.
- Strong experience with marketing and communications including digital marketing platforms and trends for the not-for-profit sector.
- Demonstrated experience with event management.
- Experience in developing and managing a department budget.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Prior experience in one or more funding database programs is essential.
- Proven skills to work with vulnerable population are required
