What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • A university education or equivalent combination of education and fundraising experience, specifically in a non-profit setting with a minimum of 3 years’ experience, with specific experience in the annual giving campaign.
  • Proven success in managing and executing fundraising campaigns with measurable results.
  • Experience with online fundraising and digital marketing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to present compelling cases for support.
  • Experience using donor management/CRM systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge).
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, trends, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, and team members.
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector search.
  • Three professional references.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

The Annual Campaign Manager will:

Annual Campaign Strategy & Execution:

  • Develop and implement the annual campaign strategy to meet and exceed fundraising goals.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute campaign activities, including donor appeals, events, and digital campaigns.
  • Ensure campaigns are conducted on time, within budget, and achieve or exceed fundraising goals.
  • Monitor and report campaign performance regularly, adjusting strategies as needed.

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship:

  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from new and existing donors, focusing on building long-term relationships.
  • Develop personalized donor engagement and stewardship strategies to deepen donor commitment.
  • Lead efforts to thank and recognize donors through personalized communications, events, and reports.

Data & Reporting:

  • Analyze donor data to understand specific donor segment trends and develop strategies to improve fundraising results.
  • Oversee donor segmentation for campaigns.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor activity in the CRM system, ensuring timely acknowledgments and follow-up.
  • Prepare regular reports on campaign performance, donor retention, and other key fundraising metrics. o Support reconciliation activities with Finance Department, analyze and resolve variances.

Collaboration & Teamwork:

  • Work closely with the major gift officers to integrate the annual campaign with other fundraising initiatives (major gifts, planned giving, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop campaign collateral, including brochures, digital content, and social media.
  • Provide guidance and support to Branch teams on fundraising activities, including events and individual donor and prospect cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Coordinate with volunteers and board members to assist in donor and prospect cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Event Management:

  • Plan and manage donor events related to the annual campaign, including fundraising and recognition events.
  • Ensure events are well-executed and contribute to donor engagement and campaign success.
