2020 has presented many challenges and disruptions to events and celebrations, and our annual celebrations are impacted just like so many others. The Board of Directors of the Calgary & Area Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals has recently made the difficult decision to move the celebration to Spring 2021, hopefully in person though final decisions will be made in line with health recommendations. All decisions by the Generosity of Spirit jury will remain confidential until the Spring 2021 celebration is announced.
Celebrating philanthropy and National Philanthropy Day around the world remains an important priority! And to do that, we need your help.
During the week of November 9 to 14, 2020, which is when we would have celebrated National Philanthropy Day with our “not to miss” luncheon, we will instead be undertaking a social media and media campaign to celebrate the philanthropy that has been happening in our communities and organizations in this extraordinary year.
We will be reaching out to all AFP Calgary & Area chapter members, Generosity of Spirit nominating organizations and past honourees, along with others in our communities, asking you to be a part of our social media campaign. We are hoping for a widespread celebration of the causes and the supporters who help our missions come to life.
We hope that you will join us in a celebration of all of your supporters and champions in your organizations the week of November 9 to 14. We’ll be sharing some suggestions and hashtags closer to the time, so stay tuned!
Even in this unprecedented year, we have so many heroes to celebrate! We look forward to recognizing the importance of philanthropy in November and a true celebration to follow in the spring!
If you have questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out to the AFP Calgary office at info@afpcalgary.com. Our Chapter Administrator, Kara Tersen, will pass your comments along to us for a response.
Let’s blanket our communities with the love of humankind and philanthropy together.
Sincerely,
