In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $61,802 – $103,002.

Location: Work primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton.

The mission of the University of Alberta’s Office of Development is to promote and encourage philanthropy in support of the academic goals of the University of Alberta.

Engineering Development works closely with the Office of Development to ensure that donors who support the University of Alberta are appropriately acknowledged, stewarded, recognized and engaged. To achieve this, the Engineering Development collaborates closely with other units within the Office of External Relations as well as External Relations colleagues within the faculties.

Position

Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Development, Engineering Impact Lead Officer is responsible for providing strategic direction and management of programs that nurture and strengthen long-term relationships with donors to the University of Alberta. The Engineering Lead Impact Officer is directly engaged in activities that foster positive relationships with significant community members that result in increased donor retention, enhanced donor’s sense of belonging, long-term donor engagement and investment, and assist in meeting the overall development goals of the university. To achieve this, Engineering Impact Lead Officer in Engineering must be flexible and have the ability to manage complex programs that include the following areas of specialization:

• development and implementation of initiatives that inform and engage Engineering’s most significant and influential community members;
• management of programs and activities for individual, corporate and foundation donors who support endowed and annually funded chairs, professorships, grants, and related projects;
• build relationships internally and externally and develop appropriate communication tools that engage and inform donors who support scholarships, awards, and bursaries;
• research, write and implement strategic communications such as customized high-end impact donor reports, endowment fund reports and gift acknowledgements

Engineering Impact Lead Officer will maintain a portfolio of positive relationships with donors, academics, researchers, senior administration, volunteers and students, and manage the development of strategic donor communications and recognition. With a unique and varied skill set, Engineering Impact Lead Officer is ultimately responsible for the development and implementation of all programs that provide donors with information related to the impact and benefits of their gifts. This position also provides strategic management.

Duties

• Leads, researches, develops, and implements the activities that fulfill the university’s responsibility for accountability and transparency, and the appropriate recognition of donors
• Leads, researches, develops, and implements the connections with donors who support scholarships, awards and bursaries, constantly seeking for new and optimized processes in collaboration with colleagues outside of Engineering
• In close partnership with Central Donor Relations colleagues, leads, researches, develops, and implements annual reporting processes to donor on endowed and non-endowed funds from an Engineering perspective, highlighting the impacts and benefits of their gifts
• In close partnership with Central Donor Relations colleagues, leads, researches, develops, and implements the community acknowledgement process

Minimum Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree is required
• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated excellence in problem solving, superior attention to detail, and ability to coordinate multiple projects requiring close communication with staff to maintain high accuracy and productivity of a team with minimal supervision
• Strong knowledge of the utilization of information systems, data base, CRM
• Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills: tact, self-confidence and assertiveness, diplomacy, teamwork, good judgment, confidentiality, and excellent strategic planning skills
• Willingness to adjust work schedule as needed to meet the demands of the position
• Creative, self-motivated, proactive and impact oriented
• Exceptional verbal and written skills
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple and shifting priorities
• Demonstrated ability to interact with senior university administration in a variety of business and social settings plus experience working with high-profile community members
• Demonstrated ability to be a contributing member of a multidisciplinary team
• Five years of project management in an external facing environment, ideally in a philanthropy related field and/or in a post-secondary environment
