Position Summary
Reporting to the Prospect and Pipeline Specialist, the Prospect Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and presenting research that supports the College’s revenue generation goals in fundraising.
This role contributes directly to identifying, researching, and analyzing prospects for annual fundraising and major gift cultivation. The Prospect Analyst collaborates closely with the Prospect and Pipeline Specialist, Fund Development, and Alumni Engagement teams to ensure a healthy fundraising pipeline of prospects and support the College’s revenue generation initiatives and strategic partnerships through offering research and insights available through a variety of prospecting platforms.
Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:
Prospect Research and Analysis:
- Conducts high-level research on individuals, alumni, corporations, and foundations using various tools like iWave, Raiser’s Edge, and news monitoring.
- Evaluates financial capacity, philanthropic interests, and relevance to Bow Valley College’s goals.
- Develops research strategies with ethical intelligence-gathering methods.
- Tracks trends in education and philanthropy to identify potential donors and fundraising opportunities.
- Leads collaboration with the FDAE team to create prospecting lists and research profiles.
- Recommends solicitation strategies and supports the moves management process, including donor qualification and stewardship.
- Prepares event briefs and provides detailed attendee information for external events.
Data Capture and Pipeline Management:
- Ensures data accuracy by regularly updating and verifying information in consultation with the Prospect and Pipeline Specialist and Advancement Operations Lead.
- Skilled in data classification and analysis, with knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations.
- Strong internet research, computer, writing, and communication skills.
Required qualifications:
- Post-secondary certification, preferably in Business Administration, Communications, or a related field
- 2 years of progressive career experience in a fundraising or business development environment, preferably in prospect management, or equivalent amount of relevant experience in development, academic, non-profit or corporate environment.
- An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered
- Completion of a Diploma or Degree is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations and public relations concepts, principles, procedures and techniques.
- If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire
