Job Overview:
The Director of Campaign Fundraising is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of Heritage Park’s most ambitious fundraising initiative to date. With a multi-million-dollar campaign set to drive the Park’s 20-year master plan, this position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of one of Canada’s most treasured historical sites. With the feasibility study complete and a strategic roadmap in place, the focus now shifts to execution—engaging high-net worth donors, securing transformative gifts, and driving the campaign forward with energy and vision. The ideal candidate is a seasoned fundraising leader with a proven track record of building and managing large-scale, multi faceted campaigns. Responsibilities:

Strategic Direction

  • Develop and implement a detailed campaign roadmap, including phased fundraising strategies.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to ensure campaign strategies are innovative, effective, and donor-centered.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the campaign team, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Track and report on campaign performance, offering data-driven insights to inform decision-making.

Campaign Development & Execution

  • Oversee all aspects of campaign planning, including prospect research, major gift solicitation, corporate partnerships, and stewardship strategies.
  • Create and implement a robust campaign structure, including leadership gift strategies, corporate sponsorships, naming opportunities, and donor recognition plans.
  • Develop compelling cases for support, donor proposals, and campaign messaging in collaboration with marketing and communications teams.
  • Ensure a donor-centered approach in all interactions, fostering meaningful relationships that lead to long term support.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of grant proposals, sponsorship requests, and partnership proposals to secure large-scale funding.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the Campaign Cabinet and volunteer committees, supporting board members and key stakeholders in fundraising efforts.

Donor & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, and community partners to secure high-impact gifts.
  • Work closely with board members and senior leadership to leverage networks and expand the Park’s donor base.
  • Develop and execute donor recognition and stewardship strategies to ensure a positive donor experience.
  • Partner with the Marketing team to align campaign messaging with overall organizational branding and visibility efforts.
  • Oversee fundraising events and initiatives designed to engage donors and promote campaign objectives.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the campaign budget, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
  • Monitor campaign revenue and expenses, providing regular updates to executive leadership and board members.
  • Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations and ethical standards, including AFP’s Donor Bill of Rights.
  • Establish policies and procedures that support effective campaign operations and reporting.

People Leadership

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the campaign team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Mentor and develop staff, ensuring professional growth and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Support team members in achieving individual and departmental objectives.
  • Collaborate with HR on recruitment, training, and performance management initiatives.

Organizational Excellence and Wellbeing

  • Contribute to inspiring and immersive experiences at the Park through your roles and responsibilities by engaging in Heritage Park initiatives that align with the overall mission and vision of the Park
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety by complying with Heritage Park’s Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSEMS), following safe work practices, reporting work-related incidents, injuries and hazards, participating in employer training, and adhering policies including the Code
    of Conduct and the Workplace Violence and Harassment policy

  • Demonstrate responsible stewardship of our people, collections and financial assets by ensuring that they are handled with integrity, sustainability, and a focus on long-term benefits for the organization and its stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management, business administration, marketing, communications); a Master’s degree is an asset.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in fundraising, with a strong track record in creating and managing large-scale, multi-million-dollar campaigns.
  • Minimum of 4 years in a leadership role managing teams and fundraising initiatives.
  • Experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic fundraising campaigns, particularly in capital and major gifts.
  • Membership with AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) required.
  • Experience working with donor management software (Raiser’s Edge is an asset).
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
