Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area provides direct service to children and youth facing adversity by matching them with caring volunteers in quality one-to-one mentoring relationships. Our agency staff members are experts at recruiting and screening volunteers; making intentional, meaningful matches; and providing the support necessary for mentoring relationships to have a lasting impact. Last year alone, our qualified staff created and empowered 885 mentoring matches for children and youth in and around Calgary who are facing adversity. At the core of this impact are the more than 1,300 dedicated volunteers who gave 66,000 hours to be a consistent, caring source of support to young people in our communities in need of additional supportive relationships.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area has a staff of 35 and an annual budget of $3.7 million and is an accredited member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada Federation, one of 108 agencies serving over 1,100 communities across the country. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the President and Chief Executive Officer has an exciting opportunity to serve the youth and future leaders of Calgary and the surrounding area that are facing adversity. This passionate and dynamic leader will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) mentoring programs in alignment with the organization’s vision, mission and strategic plan. The President and Chief Executive Officer will drive meaningful change while providing operational and strategic oversight to all aspects of the operational and administrative functions. Through strong leadership, the President and Chief Executive Officer will optimize the overall performance of BBBS to achieve impact for children and youth benefiting from the organization’s programs, and ensure financial stability.
The President and Chief Executive Officer will successfully navigate the challenges and opportunities presented from working with all three levels of government, while understanding the changing demographic trends that will directly affect BBBS. The President and Chief Executive Officer will build on the key strengths BBBS has generated over our many years of service by continuing to enhance our capacity and culture, deepening positive relationships in the community, and upholding our organization as a credible leader in the field of mentoring.
The successful candidate will have earned an undergraduate degree along with progressive and diverse experience working in a leadership role at the executive level. The ideal candidate is a passionate and engaging leader whose fund development experience and relationship building skills will help to create and maintain connections with strategic partners, donors, and community leaders. With disciplined financial and business acumen and operational expertise, this individual will collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a new strategic plan to guide and advance BBBS, ensuring we continue to make meaningful impacts through mentoring.
