The Opportunity
Working closely with the Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts & Sponsorship, the Sponsorship (Junior Development) Officer is responsible for securing sponsorships of $10,000 or less and the related planning, implementation, development, and evaluation/reporting of SAIT’s sponsorship program. The Sponsorship Officer, collaborates directly with the Alumni & Development team and together with the Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts & Sponsorship ensures all sponsorship assets and activities are valued appropriately, coordinated and aligned with SAIT’s policies and revenue goals. This position reports to the Associate Director, Development and works collaboratively with all members of the Alumni & Development team.
Sponsorships are needed for SAIT Institutional Events/Priorities such as President’s Dinner/Gala, large-scale conferences hosted by SAIT; School/program Industry Nights; Capstone events/programs; Trojans Athletics; Skills Alberta/Canada; World Skills; School of Construction Golf Classic; Alumni/ae events, etc.
The Sponsorship Officer helps ensure all sponsorship agreements are fulfilled and activation programs are implemented.
The Role
Works collaboratively with the Associate Director (Development) and Senior Development Officer (Sponsorship & Major Gifts) and team budget owners, to identify and develop sponsorship values and assets across SAIT
Helps the VP, External Relations evaluate sponsorship requests made of SAIT by providing recommendations to the VP/Director, A&D
Together with the Senior Development Officer (Sponsorship & Major Gifts) develops objectives and targets for annual sponsorships in partnership with a variety of internal and external partners for the approval by the Associate Director, Development
Provide ongoing communications and interaction with sponsors through the duration of their agreements in regard to asset fulfillment delivery
Coordinate and manage the tracking of all deliverables to sponsor
Develops, implements, and coordinates the relationship management and data tracking of sponsor information in accordance with the departmental and SAIT practices. Using the Alumni & Development CRM/processes
Oversees and solicits sponsor prospects and is directly responsible for the solicitation of assigned annual sponsorships across SAIT in conjunction with budget owners. (i.e Academic Chairs)
Working with volunteers like the School of Construction Golf Classic committee
Working in concert with the fund development cycle with corporate and individual donors to ensure coordination of sponsorship asks and best practice in cultivation and stewardship activities.
Consistent with SAIT policies and procedures such as the Naming Policy
Moves potential sponsors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and agreement.
Works within SAIT processes to develop and execute sponsor stewardship strategies to retain/renew commitments and maximize return on investment ROI for all sponsorships across SAIT and ensures sponsor stewardship activities are executed in a timely and appropriate manner. Using the Alumni & Development PMC and sponsorship processes
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Two year Diploma in Business Administration or related discipline, Marketing, Sales
Minimum Two years’ experience in securing sponsorships
Experience with in-person and virtual negotiations
Valid Driver’s License and Own Vehicle
Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related discipline, Marketing, Sales
Experience working in a Post-Secondary Institution
Experience with identifying sponsorship leads
Solid record of professional accomplishments in sponsorship revenue generation
Skills Required:
Superior communications and analytical skills
Excellent organizational, self-motivation and time management
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion and able to handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy and represent SAIT effectively and professionally
Ability to think strategically, act and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and achieve results
Ability to gain the trust and confidence of colleagues and constituents and work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
Ability to perform independently with minimal supervision
Ability to communicate persuasively, both written and verbal, with a variety of audiences.
Thorough knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and familiarity with project management programs, along with proficient social media and internet research skills
Salary range: $56,207 – $75,000
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
