CALGARY IMMIGRANT WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION (CIWA)
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Director of Communications and Stakeholder Relations position works directly with the Chief Executive Officer in developing and implementing communication and marketing strategies of CIWA. The Director of Communications and Stakeholder Relations will be responsible for outreach and developing and fostering relationships with government, corporate, and community partners. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the leadership of the of Communications
and Marketing Department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement internal and external communication and marketing strategies for CIWA
- Lead in developing and fostering relationships with government, corporate and community partners in consultation with the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Management Team
- Lead and oversee the development of strategies that promote the value of immigration and CIWA’s brand awareness to the public
- Lead in event planning and execution of agency events and communications such as the Annual General Meeting and Annual report
- Lead internal and external communications with media, community partners, stakeholder groups, donors, social media, CIWA website, blogs, newsletters and other distribution channels
- Develop a strong understanding of all CIWA programs including services, eligibility criteria, and referral processes
- Collaborate with Managers, Director of Programs, Director of Finance and Chief Executive Officer to manage organizational change as well as day-to-day operations
- Participate in and represent CIWA at community/public events and inter-agency meetings
- Participate in special events, external committees, and assist with planning if necessary
- Supervise and support communications and marketing, outreach and business development staff and provide leadership
- Other duties as assigned by the CEO

QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in lead communications and community/stakeholder relations role
- Relevant post-secondary degree in Marketing, Communications or similar
- Excellent communication skills verbally and in writing, planning and research skills
- Ability to initiate and manage projects and meet deadlines
- A strong ability to communicate effectively across multiple cultures and levels within an organization
- Strong organizational and teamwork skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving and decision-making
