ROARR (www.roarr.org) is a small CRA-registered nonprofit organization dedicated to enhance the well-being and to address the problems faced by youth-at-risk and seniors in need, by providing equine assisted activities. This also includes activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the above charitable purposes. ROARR is located in Springbank, Alberta on a picturesque heritage working ranch. With the Canadian Rockies as our backdrop, the ranch is west of Calgary and a 20-minute drive from downtown.
Executive Director Position Summary
This full-time position is an amazing opportunity for the right person – a seasoned leader who is passionate about our values and mission. The Executive Director will be responsible for leading our organization’s strategic direction, ensuring we achieve our mission and meet the evolving needs of our participants, partners, and donors. This strategic leadership role requires a deep understanding of non-profit leadership, and equine experience is a bonus! The Executive Director is the face and voice of ROARR, and is responsible for the oversight, growth, and success of ROARR’s community awareness.
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and has strategic governance and operational responsibilities. This is a full-time salaried position; experience in leading nonprofit organizations and a passion for equine-assisted services is essential. Other key responsibilities include:
- Submit grant applications
- Oversee program operations and administration
- Responsible for sound financial management and legal compliance
- Facilitate fundraising and foster donor relationships
- Cultivate key partner relationships
- Execute the strategic plan that is approved by the Board
- Maintain a strong volunteer relationship and have a deep appreciation for their role.
Essential skills and experience:
- 3+ years of effective nonprofit governance experience – must be well-schooled in NPO operations
- Proven ability of successful fund development, including grant solicitation, campaigns, events, and giving programs
- Strong financial skills, including budget preparation and reporting
- Outgoing and energetic individual who is capable of nurturing and strengthening our donor relations
- Experience with Donor Perfect, Qgiv, is an asset to ensure that accurate donor records are maintained.
- Service Leadership is essential for leading our team of enthusiastic staff!
Salary range: $70K – $75K
