Fund Development Manager

(Full-Time, Permanent Position)

Heritage Park is looking for an experienced individual to join our Fund Development Department in the role of Fund Development Manager. Under the direction of the Director of Fund Development, the Fund Development Manager works to ensure Heritage Park’s fundraising goals are met by serving the philanthropic interests of Heritage Park’s donors and prospects. The Manager is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts, Major Campaigns and Capital Campaign donors. Your work will include identification and engagement of new prospects, as well as growth of current donor relationships. This is a full-time, year-round position with an excellent benefits and pension plan package

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops and implements comprehensive plans for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding gifts in major gift category;
Builds and grows Heritage Park’s corporate, individual, planned giving, charitable foundation and grant major gift portfolio;
Works with the Director of Fund Development to develop and execute Major Campaigns, including Capital Campaigns;
Prepares and delivers high quality proposals, presentations and other communications material to donors and perspective donors to maximize engagement opportunities;
Analyzes and monitors progress toward established goals on an on-going basis, recommending strategic adjustments as required in order to meet targets;
Provides external industry knowledge, monitors trends in the philanthropic environment and implements best practices as appropriate; and
Establishes and maintains professional and productive relationships with key volunteers and donors.

Education and Experience:

Post-secondary education with an emphasis in business, communications or administration preferred, and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in fundraising is required, including creating major gift, campaigns, capital campaigns, donor appreciation activities, sponsor fulfilment, and working directly with donors (or an equivalent combination of education and experience);
Must have worked in a fund development team environment
Demonstrated advancement in a fund development focussed career;
Ability to manage budgets, lead annual planning, and inspire support from peers and team members;
Experience working with Raisers Edge, prospecting software, and other fund development tools; and
Continuous learning and membership in professional association.


Proven fund development and annual giving experience;
Ability to achieve fundraising targets;
Experience creating and implementing fund development strategies using diverse fundraising programs;
Must possess exceptional public relations, interpersonal and communications (written and verbal) skills;
Accuracy, attention to detail and respect for confidentiality;
Exceptional planning, organization, project management, prioritization, and time-management skills are required to manage multiple on-going projects simultaneously;
Strategic, analytical, interpretive and evaluation skills are considered an asset;
Ability to prioritize and remain organized when you have multiple tasks and responsibilities;
Experience working with volunteers, motivating them to support fund development efforts;
Exceptional interpersonal and communications (written and verbal) skills with a donor-centric approach to fundraising;
Strong administrative and computer skills are required, including experience with MS Office software, desktop publishing, website maintenance, and A/V support;
Interest and experience in working with diverse groups of people;
Must be self-motivated and have the ability to generate results while working independently; accuracy, attention to detail and respect for confidentiality are essential; and
A valid driver’s license required with access to a vehicle for travel within the Calgary region.

Special Clothing and Equipment:

This position must be prepared to meet with donors at any time; professional business attire is therefore required; and
May be required to wear a costume (as provided by the costume department) during certain fundraising events.

Hours of Work:

35 hours per week, Monday – Friday; and
Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend work is required throughout the year.
