Position Title: Fund Development Coordinator
Location: Calgary, AB or Guelph, ON
Hours: 40h/week, permanent, full-time position
Trout Unlimited Canada (TUC), the voice for Canada’s water, is a science-based, national, charitable conservation organization. We were founded in 1972 in response to challenges to freshwater fisheries through a focus on volunteer-driven, science-based resource conservation and hands-on activities. Our mission is “to conserve, protect and restore Canada’s freshwater ecosystems and their coldwater resources for current and future generations”. Our programs have a watershed focus and are implemented directly by staff and through engagement of our local chapters, volunteers, and partners. Our programs and projects focus on assessment, monitoring and restoration work on freshwater systems, ensuring healthy water quality and quantity, healthy habitats and healthy freshwater fish communities.
Job Description: The primary role of this position is the execution and support of a fundraising strategy supporting TUC’s mandate. This will include the coordination of grant proposals, stewardship of major gifts and support for annual giving activities. Participation in communication and prospecting activities involving but not limited to email, grant applications, relationship building and social media campaigns, focused on growing and diversifying donor support. Success in this position is realized through continuous improvement and demonstrated impact.
Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of the fund development strategy
- Carry out the day-to-day activities involving fund development as per the direction of the CEO
- Build and maintain sustainable systems, frameworks, and processes for fund development
- Oversee donor database including all gift processing, ensuring high standard of data integrity
- Spearhead donor, member and volunteer stewardship activities including communications and marketing
- Create briefing packages for prospective donors and sponsors
- Provide recommendations to achieve fundraising, and donation revenue targets
- Assess and track fund development ROI
- Foster a culture of engagement and philanthropy throughout the organization
- Develop grant applications, donor proposals and donor reports, maintaining deadlines
- Act as a well-informed ambassador at presentations, meetings and external community events
Qualifications:
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Post-secondary degree with a specialization in fundraising, communication, marketing, business, or other relevant area; a combination of education and experience may be considered
- Demonstrated success and progressive track record of soliciting and securing donor support, developing high potential prospects and donors, and strengthening relationships
- Demonstrated ability to build and strategically leverage relationships ranging from donors and supporters to board members to volunteers
- Proven creativity in developing and driving new initiatives or enhancing existing programs
- Persuasive and professional writing, presentation, and communication skills
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple demands in a dynamic environment
- Dependable, flexible, and resourceful with excellent team and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English
- Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the use of social media for fundraising is considered a strong asset
