Position Summary

Pacekids is looking to hire a full-time (37.5 hours/week) Managing Director, Fund Development & Marketing to join our dynamic team. This position is based out of Pacekids’ north (808 55 Ave NE Calgary) location, with the flexibility for some remote work. We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.

The Managing Director, Fund Development & Marketing is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and direction, including the human resources, financial, and operational management, of fund development and marketing & communications at Pacekids.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Managing Director, Fund Development & Marketing executes key pieces of Pacekids’ strategic plan and exemplifies Pacekids’ values of collaboration, learning, respect, integrity, and accountability, and shares the Pacekids’ vision and mission. Diplomacy, tact, and conflict resolution skills are necessary as this position works closely with external stakeholders to grow and enhance Pacekids’ sustainable funding mix. The impact of decisions made by this position will affect the entire organization, including external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and direction in the creation, implementation, and ongoing performance management of the fund development and marketing & communications portfolios
  • Provide expertise and guidance to the senior management team in the areas of fund development, marketing & communications, and public relations
  • Establish strategic direction for the fund development portfolio and marketing & communications objectives that supports Pacekids’ Strategic Plan and drives the organization’s mission
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholder groups including donors, alumni, clients, staff, leadership volunteers and members of the board
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders including the senior management team and Executive Director, develop and manage budgets for fund development program and marketing & communications strategy
  • In collaboration with the fund development team, establish annual plans including annual campaign, major gifts, monthly giving, grants and foundations, corporate partners, service clubs, gaming, and signature and third-party events
  • Advance community engagement strategy for donor segments through impactful and evoking experiences and materials that support cultivation and stewardship
  • Establish and effectively manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects
  • Ensure timely reporting and effective stewarding of funding sources and contacts and ensure all sponsorship or expected gift recognition occurs
  • Complete comprehensive marketing and communication plan that ensures the Pacekids brand and its community impact resonates and connects with diverse stakeholder groups

What You Bring
Core competencies and qualifications:

  • Seven to ten years’ experience with demonstrated results in a combination of fundraising, business development, and marketing & communications management
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline
  • CFRE Designation an asset
  • Strong creativity, initiation, and the ability to motivate and inspire stakeholder groups
  • Proven leader with ability to coach and mentor others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, families, staff and external stakeholders
  • Proven success in forecasting, developing, and managing complex budgets
  • Strong belief in the value of collaboration and team connection
  • Strong listening skills, sound judgement, and decision-making capabilities
  • Experience with fundraising databases and/or platforms
  • Knowledge of Canada Revenue Agency’s guidelines as they pertain to tax receipting and cost to raise a dollar an asset
  • Project management, organizational and prioritizing skills
  • High attention to detail is imperative
  • Strong commitment to an environment of continuous improvement
  • Must have access to a vehicle
  • Clearance from a Criminal Record check, including a Vulnerable Sector check, current within the last six months; can be obtained upon hire within a designated time frame
  • Clearance from a Child Intervention Record Check, current within the last year; can be obtained upon hire within a designated time frame
