JA Southern Alberta is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to help lead our fund development program as Director, Fund Development.
Reporting to the President & CEO, the Director, Fund Development, has the unique opportunity to help grow a successful, well-run organization with a strong brand, effective fundraising team, and exceptional board. The Director, Fund Development will lead a team of fund development professionals and JA Southern Alberta’s revenue programs including corporate, individual, and major giving, sponsorship, government, and events such as the Alberta Business Hall of Fame Gala. The Director, Fund Development will be responsible for sourcing new revenue while preserving and enhancing an already robust giving program.
The Director, Fund Development is an important member of JA Southern Alberta’s senior management team. This individual will work with the Board of Directors, the Development staff, the Director of Programs, and the President and CEO, to develop and execute on organizational strategy and goals. The Director, Fund Development will be instrumental to informing and implementing upon the JA Southern Alberta 3-year strategic plan.
To achieve the organization’s objectives, the Director, Fund Development will cultivate strong relationships with corporations, foundations, and various other stakeholders. This highly engaged and collaborative leader will guide and develop a high-performing team and build an organization to increase its impact throughout the southern half of the province. Success in this role will require the Director, Fund Development to be goal-oriented, dedicated, motivating and encourage a fun, fast paced, team environment for all individuals to thrive and succeed.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education with a minimum 8+ years combined experience in development and/or sales in the not-for-profit and/or corporate sectors. Demonstrated experience leading and managing staff with the ability to set goals and objectives, measure performance, and foster an environment of high performance and improvement will be required to execute this role, along with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. A Certified Fundraising Executive certification is considered an asset.
