Position Title:       Senior Development Officer – Annual Giving

Position Summary:

This position will report directly to the Director, Fund Development and Alumni Engagement, and will be responsible for strategically managing and growing Bow Valley College’s Annual and Leadership Giving Program.  With a focus on donor acquisition and retention at an annual and leadership giving level, this position will manage and steward a philanthropic portfolio of accounts.

Working in a team environment, this role will manage a personal portfolio of major gift prospects and donors to encourage and seek philanthropic support for Bow Valley College’s Student Awards program and other key fundraising priorities including entrepreneurship, nursing, creative technologies and financial literacy.

Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:

The Senior Development Officer – Annual Giving will develop strategies to promote ongoing and/or increased giving, donor relations for Bow Valley College’s student’s awards program and other key fundraising initiatives; this includes soliciting gifts, sponsorships, and funding independently. This position will actively use annual and leadership giving initiatives, planned giving, donor relations and stewardship, and information-based systems to advance the College’s priorities.

Fundraising (50%) –

  • Innovates fundraising strategies for Bow Valley College, managing annual and leadership giving programs.
  • Increases annual giving through direct mail and online campaigns, overseeing content, design, and tracking.
  • Manages a portfolio of donors, implementing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.

Donor Relations (25%) –

  • Identifies and solicits planned gift prospects, collaborating on a recognition program.
  • Represents Bow Valley College in the community, participating in stewardship activities and events.
  • Utilizes writing skills for brochures, correspondence, and funding proposals.

Event, Project, and Volunteer Management (15%) –

  • Oversees annual fundraising campaigns and supports stewardship initiatives.
  • Assists with various departmental and college-wide events and initiatives.

Database and Administration (10%) –

  • Develops and manages annual giving business plan, setting targets and retention strategies.
  • Collaborates on student awards acquisition and retention process.
  • Conducts prospecting activities and contributes to the Prospect Management System.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred: Non-profit management, Business or Communications; Public Relation
  • 3 to 5 of experience in fundraising and development
  • An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered
  • Willingness to work towards CFRE designation
  • If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire
